Richard Gray
Richard's painting is rooted in the figurative tradition of English landscape. He is preoccupied with light, and how it both bounces around enclosed urban spaces, and illuminates the more open spaces around the Vale of York. He finds York and the surrounding area a treasure trove of challenges and inspiration. Given the right lighting conditions, even the most prosaic scene can reveal something out of the ordinary if we care to look for it. Richard cares to look for it.
